Nacho Average Pizza: A Nacho Mashup for National Nacho Day!
It’s National Nacho Day and we’re taking your pizza game to the next level! Say hello to the Nacho Average Pizza - a bold, crunchy, Tex-Mex twist on your classic Dough Tribe Margherita. Perfect for sharing (or not - no judgment!).
This recipe is easy, fun, and all about layering flavours and textures: tender beef, sweet capsicum, zesty onion, drizzles of chipotle mayo and red salsa - and that finishing crunch of nacho chips.
Here’s how to make it happen.
Ingredients
- 1 x Dough Tribe Margherita Pizza
- 100 g cooked ground beef, seasoned with taco or Mexican spice mix
- ¼ red onion, finely diced
- ¼ red capsicum, thinly sliced
- Handful of nacho or corn chips, roughly crushed
- Red salsa, for drizzling
- Chipotle mayo, for drizzling
- Fresh coriander leaves (or spring onion), to finish
Optional extras: jalapeños, guacamole, or a dollop of sour cream.
Method
- Preheat your oven to 220°C (fan-forced).
- Top the Margherita base with cooked ground beef, diced onion, and capsicum.
- Bake for 5–8 minutes, until the toppings are hot and lightly roasted.
- Finish with crushed nacho chips for that irresistible crunch.
- Drizzle over red salsa and chipotle mayo, then scatter fresh coriander or spring onion for a pop of colour and freshness.
- Serve immediately and watch your friends fight over the last slice!
Chef’s Tip
For extra flair, add jalapeño slices for heat, or a dollop of guacamole or sour cream on the side. And remember - the nacho chips go on top after baking to stay crisp and crunchy!
